OUR PARTNERSHIPS

Algeria & Sonatrach.

In Algeria, HGR Energy has been selected to serve as the “clean energy partner” of Sonatrach, the 11th largest oil company in the world and the largest company on the African continent by revenue. Sonatrach has large ambitions when it comes to the supply of green hydrogen, green electricity, and green products such as steel to member nations of the European Union.

HGR Energy partners with local governments, utilities, bilateral business associations, universities, and engineering firms to design impactful, locally grounded projects.

OUR PARTNERSHIPS

South Africa & GIBB.

Out of its Johannesburg-based headquarters, HGR Energy is partnering with GIBB, South Africa’s leading black owned engineering company, on the development of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. This partnership provides real meaning to the goal of economic empowerment with respect to the ongoing energy transition in South Africa, where some 40 GW of power currently provided by coal fired power plants is slated to be switched over to newer and cleaner forms of energy generation.

OUR PARTNERSHIPS

Zambia, UNZA & Virginia Tech.

In Zambia, HGR Energy is partnering with the nation’s principal institution of higher learning, the University of Zambia (UNZA), on the development of a 100 MW PV solar project. The strategy is to provide the adjacent Copperbelt region with much needed green electricity and also to build a sustainable domestic solar industry—and the jobs that go with it. To this end, an academic collaboration has been established between UNZA and Virginia Tech, one of the USA’s leading public universities.

OUR PARTNERSHIPS

Sierra Leone & Africa50.

In Sierra Leone, HGR Energy is co-developing with Africa50 a 100MW solar PV project with storage in two phases. This is a transformational project for this energy-scarce country, and key to its aspirations related to economic development. Africa50 is one of the most esteemed development finance institutions for infrastructure on the African continent, focusing on high-impact national and regional projects in the energy, transport, and water sectors.
